I started writing early in life. I was the youngest of 7 children, and I grew up in a house full of creatives. Not only was my grandmother a published author and renowned historian, but my mother was a transcriptionist, so freelance typing work was something I was always around.
By the time I was 15 and considering work, my oldest sister was an established copywriter, another sister was working in web design, and another was publishing her first book (she is now a USA Today best seller). I started working for some of the freelance companies that they worked for, but my thing was always cooking and drama. My mom thought I would be a chef someday, but secretly, I had notebooks filled with untold stories, song lyrics, and poems. In highschool I studied English and Theater extensively. I carried those studies into my first year of college, but eventually I shifted focus and obtained my Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Riverland Community College.
I went through some trials in my life with chronic illness and family challenges that led me to take work wherever I could find it. Over the years, I spent time working in kitchens and museums across the country. Since I was little, I loved cooking so much that I regularly competed in cooking competitions with the 4-H in my hometown, and I was good, but a chef's life wasn't for me. I found success working in the business side of entertainment at Family Video, collaborating with C-suite executives to launch new stores and businesses in my region. Again, my health made things difficult, and I committed myself to finding remote work.
I established myself as a Senior Research Analyst and worked in the business sector, writing business reports for the next five years. That career led me to work in marketing, and to be honest, I hated it. After 10 years of making other businesses successful, I decided to do it for myself and started my first business in 2024 after obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design and Media Arts from Southern New Hampshire University. Again, life happens, and things didn't go as planned, but I haven't given up.
In 2026, I rebranded. I am now officially a published author with my first mini-ebooks available on Amazon. I also work as a News Writer for the online magazine House Digest. My business, Phoenix Publishing, is currently a platform for me to publish my own work while supporting other authors with Book Cover, Layout Design, and Editing Services.
Over the past 10+ years, I have become an expert in entertainment, health and wellness, and home and garden industries. I was heavily inspired by my grandma, Mary Jo Dathe. After she passed away in 2023, I decided it was time I started writing my own stories, so I continued my education. As of May 2026, I will have a Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Liberty University.
